Air Cooled Refrigerated Air Dryers for Industrial Compressed Air Systems
Air cooled refrigerated air dryers remove moisture from compressed air by cooling the air until water vapor condenses into liquid water. Heat from the refrigeration system is discharged through an air-cooled condenser, eliminating the need for an external cooling-water supply.
Lingyu AH Series air cooled refrigerated air dryers are designed for industrial applications with higher compressed air inlet temperatures, with a rated inlet temperature of 50°C and maximum inlet temperature up to 80°C.

Key Operating Conditions
| Parameter | Specification |
| Rated inlet pressure | 0.7 MPa |
| Operating pressure | 0.6–1.0 MPa |
| Rated inlet temperature | 50°C |
| Maximum inlet temperature | ≤80°C |
| Pressure dew point | 2–10°C |
| Rated ambient temperature | 32°C |
| Ambient operating range | 2–45°C |
| Pressure drop | ≤0.025 MPa |
| Cooling method | Air-cooled |
Actual dryer capacity can change when operating pressure, inlet temperature, or ambient temperature differs from the rated conditions.
How to Select an Air Cooled Refrigerated Air Dryer
Select the dryer according to actual operating conditions rather than compressor airflow alone.
Key parameters include:
- Airflow: CFM, SCFM, or m³/min
- Working pressure
- Inlet air temperature
- Ambient temperature
- Required pressure dew point
- Power supply and frequency
- Allowable pressure drop
- Installation and ventilation conditions
For high-inlet-temperature applications, the AH Series can handle compressed air inlet temperatures up to 80°C, subject to the specified operating conditions.
Installation & Ventilation
Air cooled refrigerated dryers discharge condenser heat into the surrounding environment, so adequate ventilation is important.
Install the dryer indoors on a level concrete floor, keep the condenser air inlet and outlet unobstructed, and prevent hot discharge air from recirculating into the cooling-air inlet.
For the AH Series, a minimum clearance of approximately 1.5 m around the unit is recommended for ventilation and maintenance access.
For installations with limited ventilation, a water-cooled refrigerated air dryer may be more suitable.
Air Cooled vs Water Cooled Refrigerated Air Dryer
| Factor | Air Cooled | Water Cooled |
| Cooling medium | Ambient air | Cooling water |
| Cooling water required | No | Yes |
| Installation | Simpler | Requires water circuit |
| Ventilation requirement | Higher | Lower |
| Infrastructure requirement | Lower | Higher |
| Limited compressor-room ventilation | Less suitable | More suitable |
| Typical use | General industrial systems | Large / demanding systems |
Choose an air cooled refrigerated air dryer when cooling water is unavailable and adequate ventilation can be provided.
Consider a water cooled refrigerated air dryer for large-capacity systems or installations where compressor-room heat dissipation is limited.
Frequently Asked Questions
What inlet temperature can the AH Series handle?
The rated inlet temperature is 50°C, with a maximum allowable inlet temperature of 80°C.
What pressure dew point does the dryer provide?
The AH Series specifies a pressure dew point of 2–10°C, depending on operating conditions.
What is the pressure drop?
The specified pressure drop is ≤0.025 MPa.
What ambient temperature can the dryer operate in?
The rated ambient temperature is 32°C, with an operating range of 2–45°C.
How do I select the correct model?
Selection should consider airflow, working pressure, inlet temperature, ambient temperature, and required dew point. If actual conditions differ from the rated conditions, dryer capacity should be checked accordingly.
